Transform Home Rule City Governance From City Manager to Strong Mayor Leadership

As a Chaplain and leader of a ministry here in Haltom City, and as a citizen of this community, the Lord has given me a burning desirer to help those who have been wronged and assist those who are being taken advantage of in ways that appear to be hidden from the communities view. Yes we want to trust those who are leading, supposedly for us. However, when the arm of power exceeds the control that was trusted to them the People need to rise up and take control of their rights, and take back what has been stolden from them, without any shot fired, our rights are getting less and less. The Lord has promised in His Word,

” if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves and seek my face and turn from their wicked way, then I will hear their prayers and heal their :land.” II Chronicles 7:14

We have to bend our knees and repent and seek His Guidance and as He leads us Rise Up in Unity to Take Back what Belongs to us.

                  The Issue

In our loving hometown, city officers are industriously improving their facilities and adopting a vigorous stance on code regulations, which, though resulting in a cleaner city, also leads to skyrocketing taxes and exorbitant water and sewer bills. The governing system, a Home Rule Charter, is presently managed by a City Manager who isn’t an elected official – an individual the We the people can neither appoint nor dismiss.

Unlike most civic offices, this crucial position is beyond the reach of public influence, leaving the people with scant control over the future of our city. This has caused us to feel like silent observers in our own hometown, lacking control over decisions that directly impact our lives. This isn’t the embodiment of a functioning democracy, where power is vested in the hands of the public.

Let us make no mistake: this isn’t an attempt to undermine the efforts of the City Manager or the current local government. This is about ensuring that every significant decision about our beloved city isn’t just made for the people but by the people, through duly elected representatives.

Converting governance from the Home Rule Charter to being controlled by a Strong Mayor and several Council members would grant citizens the right to directly influence the decisions and policies affecting their city. Such elected officials could be held accountable in the event of any mishaps or non-performance, ensuring that the best interests of all residents are kept paramount.

We believe in the power of public participation, the efficacy of democracy, and the importance of our voice! We are the people, taking action to ensure the city we love is governed with our input, shaping the future we want to see.

Stand with us, your fellow citizens, and sign this petition today to transform our Home Rule City’s governance from City Manager reign to a Strong Mayor lead, ensuring our right to directly influence the decisions that shape our lives and city.
